If you've never worked with someone to build a website, the process can seem mysterious. Here's what it actually looks like, step by step, so you know exactly what to expect.
Step 1: The conversation
We start by talking about your business — what you do, who your customers are, and what you want the website to accomplish. Do you need more phone calls? Online bookings? A place to showcase your work? We figure out the goal first, then design around it.
You don't need to know any technical terms. We'll ask simple questions and translate everything into plain language.
Step 2: The design
Based on our conversation, we create a design for your site — how it will look, how pages will be laid out, and what the experience will feel like for your customers. You'll see mockups and give feedback. We go back and forth until you're happy.
Step 3: The build
Once the design is approved, we build the actual website. This is the part that takes the most time. You don't need to do anything during this phase — we handle everything. You'll get periodic updates so you know where things stand.
Step 4: Review and revisions
Before we launch, you'll get to click through the full site and test everything. We'll make any tweaks or changes you want. We want you to be genuinely happy with the result.
Step 5: Launch
We make the site live on your domain. This part is usually anticlimactic — we flip a switch and it's online. We'll make sure everything works, forms go to the right place, and your site shows up properly when people search for you.
Step 6: Training
We show you how to make small updates yourself — changing text, adding photos, updating your hours. You won't need to call us every time something minor changes (unless you want to).
Step 7: After launch
We stick around. If something breaks, we fix it. If you want to add something new, we do it. Launch day is the beginning, not the end.
How long does it take?
A standard business website typically takes 4–8 weeks from start to finish. A redesign of an existing site can be faster (3–6 weeks). The timeline depends mostly on how quickly you're able to give feedback during the design phase.
